Though it wasn’t the warmest day of the season; the kids, the wife and I bundled up and headed to the Indianapolis Zoo this weekend. The cloudy weather and chill in the air made for a much less crowded venue, compared to some of the record-setting attendance numbers the zoo has already seen this year.
We splurged for the family membership. Our kids, especially 3 year old Emerson, love animals and I’m sure this is just the first of many visits we’ll make this year. Along with all of the food purchases and over-priced gift shop expenditures, my crew is doing our part to help the zoo pay for the new renovations. But if it puts a smile on my kids’ faces, then I have no complaints.
It actually turned out to be a great day. It warmed up as the day went on and all of the animals were out. Often the animals will hide during those sweltering hot summer days, but today was a perfect day for the animals and the kids. We enjoyed the dolphin show, giant bats, cheetahs, lemurs and many other cool animals. We even got to pet a shark!
